Linnaean Classification: Eukarya, Animalia, Chordata, Aves, Anseriformes, Anatidae, Anas platyrhynchos

Regulator because mallard ducks are warm-blooded animals that maintain a relatively constant body temperature as well as other internal conditions.

Migration because during warmer seasons, they will stay in northern areas, but fly south as the climate changes when the colder seasons come in.

Generalist because mallard ducks have a varying diet and mainly dabble to eat, tipping forward in the water to eat seeds and other vegetation. They also feed on land, preying on larvae, earthworms, and freshwater shrimp.

Consumer because this species relies on other organisms for its diet.

Omnivore because mallard ducks eat both plants, such as seeds, and other organisms, such as larvae and shrimp.

Niche: The mallard duck usually inhabits wetlands, such as lakes and ponds. They eat aquatic plants and occasionally insects. They also act as prey for other larger organisms, such as coyotes.
