Bald Eagle

Linnaean Classification: Eukarya, Animalia, Chordata, Aves, Falconiformes, Accipitridae, Haliaeetus leucocephalus

Regulator because bald eagles are warm-blooded and do not change their body temperature due to environmental influences.

Migration because bald eagles fly south when nearby lakes and rivers freeze over and food is more scarce. However, not all eagles migrate, only ones that need to in order to find food to survive. Thus, they can be considered migrators or dormant animals.

Generalist because they can eat a wide variety of animals such as turtles, rabbits, snakes, and fish.

Consumer because eagles depend on the things they eat for the energy they need. They cannot make the food themselves.

Carnivore because bald eagles only eat meat.

Niche: The bald eagle lives predominantly near swamps, lakes, rivers, and other bodies of water, where they can easily find fish, their main prey. They are near the top of the food chain, only really being hunted by humans. However, animals such as owls and raccoons do pose a potential threat to babies in the nests.
